ROUND ONE

TIME: 11 sharp -11.50am

NEUROBIOLOGY OF TRAUMA

AND RESTORATIVE PRACTICES

This workshop will detail some of the neuroscience of developmental trauma in children and young people.  It will explain the effects of developmental trauma on children and young people in regard to their emotional awareness and management, their social capacity and their learning.  Drawing on this the workshop will argue that Restorative Practices provides an avenue to counteract the destructive cycle of shame and build resilience.  However, to do this will require a heightened sensitivity in restorative interventions to the reality of developmental trauma.
