PLEASE NEVER SAY -

'THAT'S JUST GIRLS'.

GENDER RESPONSIVE RESTORATIVE

PHILOSOPHY AND PRACTICE

Bestie, BFF, mean girls, frenemies, too much too soon, yo yo friends……regardless of the language we use to describe girls’ relationships, all girls need to develop the skills required to get along with others.

Many times, the social issues facing girls and young women fall into the domain of relational aggression, such behaviours as; gossip, exclusion, ignoring, 'just joking', eye rolling, the sideways laugh and conditional friendship. Working restoratively with these friendship and relationship issues and repairing harm when things go wrong requires a multi system approach and a really clear understanding of the ways girls interact with each other. This workshop will draw on experiences within an all-girl school environment. Using narrative to explore how informed restorative theory can support girls and young women's social and emotional learning and relationship development.
